Learn to read what your houseplant is telling you

Mossfield Learning Garden runs small beginner workshops for adults who are starting out, with clear language, room for questions and practical observation. Fern care begins with light, moisture and the growing medium; succulent care covers light, drainage and watering habits. Sessions are 75 minutes for up to six people, arranged after an enquiry, so tell us which path interests you and bring one plant-care question.

Two learning paths, and how a workshop runs

Workshops are educational beginner plant-care sessions for adults who are starting out, held in a small group with room for questions and practical observation.

Fern care

Fern care starts with observation: the light a plant receives, moisture and the growing medium, discussed in a patient, practical conversation.

Succulent care

Succulent care is a separate topic covering suitable light, drainage and watering habits, without treating every plant the same.

General beginner workshop

Choose this path if you are not sure which one fits; bring one plant-care question and no previous experience is needed.

75 minutes

Each workshop lasts 75 minutes, with room for questions and practical observation.

Up to six people

Groups are kept small, with a maximum of six participants.

Arranging a session

Sessions are arranged after an enquiry. There is no online shop, instant booking or payment, and dates and prices are not published.

Succulent care: light, drainage and watering habits

Succulent care is taught as its own topic, covering the light a plant receives, how the growing medium drains and how watering habits suit different plants, rather than treating every plant the same. Bring a question about one of your own plants and we will start from what you can observe.

Send your plant-care question

Tell us whether you are asking about fern care, succulent care or a general beginner workshop, and include your preferred group size. Replies come within two working days. Submitting an enquiry does not reserve a place or take payment; dates, availability and pricing are confirmed in the reply.
